The Memorial Hermann Prevention and Recovery Center (PaRC) Adolescent Program provides comprehensive treatment for adolescents ages 13 to 17 suffering with primary substance abuse dependency as well as those struggling with co-occurring psychiatric disorders. The basic goals of the treatment program are to help the patient and family establish recovery and learn the skills to live effectively as the teen establishes abstinence-based sobriety
Trained to understand the unique development issues of adolescents such as peer pressure and self esteem, our highly qualified administrative and clinical staff is committed to providing the following treatment services to teenaged patients:
- Detoxification. The first phase of treatment includes 24-hour-a-day monitoring and daily physician assessments.
- Residential Treatment. Treatment includes a minimum of 35 hours per week of planned, structured activities including Patient education in individual, group and family counseling sessions, 12-step support group meetings, and other activities designed to enhance the recovery process.
- Educational curriculum. Teens are provided 5 hours of daily academic coursework including computer lab access. This academic component is accredited by the Texas Education Agency and led by certified instructors and the student teacher ratio averages 10 to 1.
- Day Treatment. A full day treatment program that parallels residential treatment services but allows the client to return home in the evening.
- Intensive Outpatient Program. Offers educational and therapeutic services.
- Family Programming. Families of our patients are offered therapy/counseling sessions and educational workshops and support groups to assist them in supporting their loved one’s recovery
- Extensive Discharge Planning. To ensure that the patients transition back into a proactive healthy lifestyle, PaRC counselors and clinical team will create individualized plan of care including aftercare, family education, 12 step meetings, and community resources.
- Aftercare (peer-led) and/or Continuing Care (professionally led). Starts the first week a patient is admitted into treatment and continues weekly for one year following completion of treatment. These groups offer a built-in support group to aid in the recovery process.
- Relapse Prevention. Education and support groups to assist in identifying relapse warning signs, as well as early intervention planning.
- Alumni Association.The alumni association is open to all patients presently at the PaRC or those who have completed treatment there. Alumni are supported through 12-step meeting and discharge follow-up.
- 12-step meetings. 12 step meetings are provided.
The PaRC has strong supportive ties to community agencies whose primary focus is to help adolescents succeed through establishing sober supportive peer groups. Below is list of the types of agencies PaRC staff will collaborate with to ensure the patients served establish supportive peer groups.
